Terms of Service

By accessing or using DictArena (dictarena.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform. These terms apply to all visitors, anonymous players, and registered account holders.

DictArena is a live competitive dictation and spelling platform. Players listen to audio passages or words and type their answers in real time. Scores are calculated automatically and displayed on a live leaderboard.

The platform offers two game modes — Dictée Mode (full-passage dictation) and Spelling Bee (word-by-word spelling) — across French, English, and Portuguese.

DictArena is free to play with the following limits for unregistered players:

• Unlimited room joins as a participant
• A limited number of solo practice sessions per day

Pro plan subscribers gain unlimited solo practice, the ability to host multiplayer rooms, full AI error explanations, game history, and result exports.

Subscription fees are billed in advance. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time unless required by applicable law.

You may use DictArena without an account. If you choose to register, you are responsible for:

• Keeping your passphrase confidential
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate information (display name, email if given)

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Players under 16 should have parental consent.

You agree not to:

• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to cheat or manipulate scores
• Choose a display name that is offensive, hateful, or impersonates others
• Attempt to access or disrupt the platform's infrastructure
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy game content, audio, or scoring logic
• Resell or redistribute access to the platform without written permission

We reserve the right to ban accounts or IP addresses that violate these rules without prior notice.

All content on DictArena — including the platform design, audio recordings, scoring algorithms, and brand assets — is the property of DictArena and protected by copyright. Dictation texts may be sourced from public domain literature. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without express written permission.

DictArena is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the platform will be available at all times or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DictArena shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, interruption of service, or errors in AI scoring.

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify registered users by email of material changes. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

These terms are governed by French law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of France, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
